Child and Youth Work at CAMHThere are child and youth workers employed at the Centre. These professionals are located in two main programs within CAMH. The majority of the Child and Youth Workers work as important members within clinical multi-disciplinary teams found in the Child, Youth and Family program. The expansion to the Dual Diagnosis program has meant Child and Youth Workers are now working within the adult mental health area. Although Child and Youth Workers are a non-regulated body of professionals, they are graduates of a three year community college program from either George Brown College, Humber College or Centennial College. Often, they have continued their education with a BA from Ryerson in Child and Youth Work. All Child and Youth Workers are encouraged to be a part of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counselors. Child and Youth Work has a well established reputation at the community colleges for the training of students. Third year students are provided placements in all areas of the Child, Youth and Family program. Our educational coordinator is Susan Lytle, CYW, who is the contact for all three community colleges. Susan is located at the College Street Site. The Child and Youth Workers work closely together and have meetings to discuss issues regarding student training, opportunities and areas that affect the Child and Youth Work discipline. These meetings are chaired by the Child and Youth Worker in Chief.
