About CAMH

H1N1 Flu Pandemic update: November 3, 2009

Based on the currently mild level of the H1N1 flu, CAMH is continuing with screening procedures already in place and will NOT institute more stringent procedures unless the severity changes. We are confident that CAMH has a solid plan in place and we are prepared to meet the needs of clients and staff during this time.

If you are a CAMH client and you feel sick with flu, let us know BEFORE coming in to CAMH for your appointment. Symptoms of swine flu include high fever, headache, eye pain, shortness of breath and extreme fatigue. We are asking people NOT to come to CAMH while they have the flu unless they require mental health and addiction services urgently.

Remember, you can decrease your risk of getting the H1N1 flu virus and any other type of influenza, by following these basic precautions:

• wash your hands frequently and thoroughly or use an alcohol-hand sanitizer
• cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
• if you don’t have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your sleeve or arm, not in your hands
• stay home if you are ill.

Visit the following websites for information about the location and hours of operation of vaccination clinics in the City of Toronto, Peel and Durham

For more information about the H1N1 flu, CAMH has an information brochure (PDF) for clients and families on flu pandemics available in English or French (PDF).
